Fragments of a Turbulent World

The world seems more and more out of joint. What previously provided orientation is losing its power. The changes are unpredictable. We are experiencing a reality that seems increasingly complex. The dividing lines between right and wrong, between order and chaos blur. We question or dissolve our structures, institutions and traditions. The models we used to make sense of the world around us to make it understandable and to bring order to the chaos, are losing their explanatory power. The tools we used no longer work. With his framework BANI, futurist Jamais Cascio conveys a better understanding of the current state of the world: he characterizes the present as brittle, anxious, non-linear and incomprehensible. Inspired by this idea, the series of images attempts to find order in chaos and visualizes the patterns that constitute chaos as parts of a system that is beyond our control.
